Evaluations
You don’t have to wonder or worry alone. An evaluation can give you answers, direction, and hope. Let’s discover together what’s going on and how we can help.

When Liam was two, his parents noticed he wasn’t talking as much as his peers. He could sing a song but wasn’t able to tell them what he wanted to eat. New words didn’t come easily and sometimes they couldn’t quite understand what he was saying. They wanted answers, and a plan.
Our evaluations dig deep, using evidence-based tools and play to discover your child’s strengths and areas for growth. At Word Play, we don't just look at the score on a test (*ahem school district*), we evaluate your child's daily functioning of communication skills. We interview every parent to learn in depth information on your goals for your child. We won't only hand you a report, we will walk you through every finding, explain what it means in plain language, and outline a clear, step-by-step plan. You’ll leave the assessment not only with information, but with hope and direction to improve your child’s communication skills.
Speech Evaluation
A comprehensive speech evaluation provides a detailed analysis of the sounds your child produces and their overall speech intelligibility (how much the listener can understand them). Speech evaluations are designed to identify your child’s unique strengths and challenges, typically lasting 30-60 minutes. Results, goals and recommendations for at home practice are detailed in a formal written report. Schedule an initial phone call now.
Language Evaluation
A comprehensive language evaluation assesses both your child’s receptive (understanding, following directions) and expressive language (vocabulary, sentence length, grammar, story telling) skills. Your child's strengths and challenges will be identified using both formal and informal measures. Language evaluations typically last 60-90 minutes. Results, goals and recommendations for at home practice are detailed in a formal written report. Schedule an initial phone call now.
