Consultations

You are your child’s first and most important teacher. With the right strategies, you can make every moment a chance for growth. Schedule a parent consultation and feel confident and empowered to improve your child’s communication.

When Mrs. Ramirez’s son, Mateo, started kindergarten, he already had an IEP in place. The school meetings were full of acronyms and goal statements, and while she nodded along, she left each one with the same sinking feeling, “I still don’t know what to do at home to help him.”

Mrs. Ramirez wanted to be involved. She wanted Mateo to make progress. But every time she sat down to “practice,” she wasn’t sure if she was doing it right, and she worried she might be wasting precious time.

That’s when she reached out to Word Play Speech Therapy asking for help. During the parent consultation session, Ms. Ali walked through Mateo’s IEP, breaking down each goal into plain language and offering practical ways to weave practice into everyday routines like snack time, playtime, and bedtime.

By the end of the consultation, Mrs. Ramirez said she felt lighter. She knew exactly how to support Mateo at home and could finally picture what progress might look like. Most importantly, she felt empowered to speak up at his next IEP meeting, asking targeted questions and advocating for strategies that worked for her child.
